The X Factor is heading back to basics!
The ITV show, according to The Sun, will return with auditions being stripped down to having no backing tracks and no studio audience.
Big boss Simon Cowell has ordered this to happen in order for the talent show’s revival.
Reportedly Simon wants to breathe some life back into the show after it lost two million viewerslast year.
Those who come to audition will have to perform a-cappella in an ‘intimate setting’ reverting back to the show’s former self.
The wannabe stars will have to impress the judes at a second audition. This time in front of a live audience before being put through to the Boot Camp stage.
A spokesman told The Sun, “We can confirm the audition rooms will be returning to the X Factor as one of a number of exciting changes.”
A senior show source added, “Fans wanted changes this year — and we’re giving them what they want.
The a-cappella auditions were classic X Factor and really gave the judges an insight into whether acts were any good. It also better showcased some of the weird and wacky people we get, whose performances got lost in the arena auditions. The plan is to have the best of both worlds.”
The show’s previous format worked well for a couple of years, around 2009/2010, after X Factor chiefs axed the old audition ways.
Reportedly this new format was decided to be left behind at a meeting with the bosses last week.
This meeting also brought to light perhaps bringing Sharon Osbourne back as a judge?
Do you think the old audition stages will work better and up The X Factor ratings?
