We’d usually feel a little concerned at the idea of someone covering an Amy Winehouse track, but when that someone is Beyonce Knowles there’s no need to panic.
Beyoncé is set to record a cover version of Back To Black to for soundtrack to the Great Gatsby, and Outcast’s Andre 3000’ll join her on the track. Hmmm, sounds interesting.
Beyonce's husband Jay-Z is the executive producer on the Great Gatsby soundtrack, and he was keen to do something new with Amy’s classic hit,
“It's ripe for experimentation and ready to be interpreted with a modern twist,” he says of his decision to use the snog.
Jay had to seek permission from Amy’s family and from Mark Ronson, who co-wrote the song with Amy, to use the track. Well, if anyone’s going to do Amy’s legacy justice it’s Beyonce and Jay.
“The track was perfect for the film but the whole idea of the 2013 picture is to give everything a new twist,” a source tells The Sun.
We can’t wait to hear what Jay-Z, Beyonce and Andre do with the song.
