Earlier this week Simon Cowell told his Twitter followers to expect a revamped X Factor this year – and it seems like the talent show boss is going for a stripped back approach.
It’s thought that auditions will no longer take place in large arenas with a huge audience, instead the X Factor auditions road show will travel to small music venues and working men’s clubs across the country.
It’s all something to do with the contestants “journey” apparently.
“We need a significant point of difference between the audition and the live show. Smaller venues is the latest idea and it’s one we quite like as it’s new and could feel fresh.
“Visually the live shows don’t seem much different from the auditions,” a source tells The Sun.
This could be a trick that actually works. By the time the live shows roll around we’ve had weeks and weeks of watching people sing on huge arena stages surrounded by a massive, excited audience. We like the idea of contrast.

Simon gets totes emosh on Twitter
Simon Cowell has a heart after all. We know this because he had a bit of an emotional outburst on Twitter earlier this week. He started off updating people on his upcoming work plans – including his thoughts on this year's X Factor.
“There will be a lot of changes on X Factor UK and USA. But good changes. I feel excited for both shows this year,” he wrote.
He then had a bit of meltdown, taking about bumps in the road and the importance of friends and family,
“And with everything I have been working on it made me realise that your friends and family are still the most important things in your life,
“What I have realised is there will be bumps in your life but the fun is fixing them. If it was always easy life would be boring.”
Er, thanks for the advice, Uncle Simon.
