Samsung Galaxy Note 3: Giant phablet is getting even bigger

We’re just days away from the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4,but already, the rumour mill surrounding the next Samsung Galaxy Note phone-tablet-thing is churning into action. A new report published this week says the next version is about to get an even bigger screen – does your pocket stand a chance?
The Korea Times reports that Samsung will unveil a new phone with a gigantic 5.9-inch OLED display in the second half of the year, and that it will be powered by Samsung’s latest Exynos eight-core processor.
The report doesn’t confirm this is the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 by name, but the size and timing would suggest so. Last year’s hit Galaxy Note 2 was unveiled in early September at the IFA tech show in Berlin, and this report hints that Samsung is locking its Note series into annual upgrades, just like the Galaxy S line.
More of a surprise is the size of the screen. At 5.5-inches, the Note 2’s panel was already stretching the definition of phone and breaking down boundaries – if the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 gets almost half an inch bigger, will fans react? Or will the stylus and tablet skills more than make up for its large profile? We’ll find out soon – in the meantime, be sure to tune in a week today to find out what’s in store for the Galaxy S4.
